Medavakkam has grown from a village into one of the busiest residential suburbs of south Chennai, spread along the Medavakkam Main Road, the Velachery–Tambaram stretch and the link towards Sholinganallur. Compared with the city’s older areas, the apartments here are newer, and many sit in clusters of three or four blocks in a single compound, with a common gate and a security desk.
The biggest practical point is the lift. In these clusters the service lift is shared by several blocks, and the association usually allows only one move at a time. A slot is booked in advance and a late start can push you out of the day’s window. We ask the booking time and the deposit rule at the survey and send the crew early.
Roads around the Medavakkam junction can be slow, especially on the main road near the market, and the lake-side streets get waterlogged in the heavy monsoon.
