What customs clearance involves
- Documents check. Invoice, packing list and transport documents are checked against the goods.
- Filing. A Bill of Entry for imports, or a Shipping Bill for exports, is filed on ICEGATE, the customs portal.
- Duty. Customs assesses the duty, which is paid online.
- Examination. If customs selects the cargo for checking, it is opened and inspected in their presence.
- Release. Once cleared, the goods are released for delivery.
