Moving house in Bengaluru: what to plan for

Gated communities

Apartment associations in Whitefield, Bellandur, Sarjapur Road, Hebbal and Electronic City usually ask for move-out or move-in approval, a service-lift booking and moving within set hours. Some charge a fee or take a deposit. Check with your association office early, and tell us the rules during the survey.

Independent houses in older layouts

In Jayanagar, Basavanagudi, Malleshwaram and Indiranagar, many homes are independent houses, some with rented floors on top. Stairs can be narrow, so the survey checks them before the crew size is fixed.

Traffic

The Outer Ring Road, Silk Board junction, Hosur Road and the roads to Whitefield are slow at office hours. A move that starts early in the morning, or on a weekend, saves hours on the road.

Rain

Bengaluru gets heavy showers in the monsoon months. Goods get waterproof wrapping, and loading is timed around the rain where possible.
