How car transport works
- Quote. Share the car model, the pickup and drop cities and your date. You get the price in writing.
- Pickup. We note the car’s condition with you, including any existing scratches or dents, before it is loaded.
- Loading. The car is driven onto the carrier and secured for the journey.
- Delivery. At the new address you check the car against the pickup notes and take the keys.
Documents to keep ready
- Copy of the registration certificate (RC).
- Copy of the car insurance.
- Your ID proof, and an authority letter if someone else hands over the car.
If you will keep the car in another state for more than 12 months, the law requires you to register it there. An NOC from your current RTO is part of that process, so it helps to start it early.
Getting the car ready
- Keep the fuel at about a quarter of the tank.
- Remove valuables, papers and loose items from the cabin and the boot.
- Take off detachable accessories such as roof carriers.
- Note the odometer reading and hand over one key.
Car and household together
If you are shifting your home too, the car travels on the carrier while your household goods go in the moving truck. Both are planned together, so you are not waiting on one after the other arrives. See home shifting.
