Camp: Pune’s colonial-era cantonment heart
The Camp, formally the Pune Cantonment area, is the old military and colonial centre of the city, famous for MG Road, East Street and its Fashion Street, the Sassoon Road side and St Mary’s Church. Parsi, Anglo-Indian, Sindhi and Marathi families have lived here for generations, and the area has a distinctive blend of bungalows, old apartment buildings and busy markets.
Cantonment rules apply to some roads and areas, and large vehicles can be restricted at certain hours. We check the permitted timings and routes when planning. Parking on MG Road and East Street is very hard, particularly during weekends and festivals, so for moves from shops and flats above them, we begin early in the morning.
Old bungalows and apartments in the Camp usually have high ceilings, wooden floors and solid, heavy furniture. They may also include antiques, crockery, glassware and carpets that deserve careful wrapping. Our crews use blankets, stretch film and corner guards, and we suggest that you set aside irreplaceable items to carry yourself. Narrow staircases are common, and old lifts can be unreliable. Typical destinations are Koregaon Park, Wanowrie, Kondhwa and Fatima Nagar, with some customers going to Baner or Aundh for newer flats. Long-distance moves from the Camp are straightforward, since the railway station and the Solapur Road are both within a short drive.

Typical destinations include Koregaon Park, Kalyani Nagar, Hadapsar and Wanowrie. We choose a smaller truck for old lanes and use experienced loaders.
