Mahalunge, sometimes written Mhalunge, lies north-west of Baner and east of Hinjewadi, along the Baner–Mahalunge Road, with the Mahalunge-Ingale village and the Mhalunge MIDC region close by. Over a few years, a cluster of large gated communities has changed it from farmland into a residential district for people who want newer and cheaper homes close to Baner and Hinjewadi.
The road network is still catching up. The Baner–Mahalunge Road is the primary route, and it is busy with construction vehicles, tankers and buses. Some stretches are narrow and don’t have footpaths, and during the monsoon the edges soften. Our driver prefers to scout the approach, and we ask you for the society gate location since many large projects have more than one entrance.
Societies are comparable to Baner’s, with service lifts, basements and moving hours, but the surrounding amenities are limited, so many households own more vehicles and need more parking space on moving day. We suggest reserving a spot for the truck. A typical household is a family with young children, and the load includes toys, cycles and school equipment, which are packed in labelled boxes. Typical moves are to Baner, Balewadi, Hinjewadi and Pashan, with the Mumbai–Bengaluru highway not far away for outstation trips. For those awaiting possession of a new flat, short-term storage can bridge the gap between the old lease and the new home.
Practical planning for Mahalunge
Mahalunge lies on the Pune–Mumbai highway side near Baner, Balewadi and Hinjewadi, with the MIDC industrial area nearby. It is a growing area with new societies and traffic from the Hinjewadi corridor. The road along Mahalunge is narrow in places, and heavy vehicles share it.
