Common moves from Abids
Moves from here usually go to Himayatnagar, Nampally or Secunderabad. Nearby, Himayatnagar, Nampally and Secunderabad are short local moves. For other cities, see the road distances from Hyderabad and our city-to-city route pages.
Abids: the historic commercial centre
Abids is Hyderabad’s old commercial heart, with the Abids Circle, the GPO, Sultan Bazar, Koti and the Nampally side around it. It is lined with shops, offices, banks, wholesalers and old buildings, and during the day it is one of the busiest areas in the city.
The streets are crowded by mid-morning, and many have vehicle restrictions. Sultan Bazar and the lanes near Koti are mostly handcart territory. Our crews often start loading at dawn, when shops are still closed, and the moving truck waits at the entrance of the lane. Parking is virtually unavailable during the day.
Most buildings in Abids are commercial, with offices and shops. Residential flats are limited, and many are above shops, with steep stairs and no lifts. Business moves dominate our work here: offices, small showrooms and wholesale shops shifting stock. We visit, prepare a list, and work outside business hours. Files are numbered, computers are packed with anti-static material, and furniture is dismantled. Typical moves are to Himayatnagar, Nampally, Koti and Secunderabad. Because Abids is central, travel times to most parts of the city are short, but the congestion can double them. For relocations outside Hyderabad, the railway stations and the highways are all within reach, and the crew can take an early departure to avoid the traffic.
Practical planning for Abids
Abids is the old commercial heart of the city, with Gandhi Bhavan, the GPO and the famous Sultan Bazaar lanes running off it. Shops open late and stay busy until night, so trucks have to come either at dawn or after the shutters close, and most of our moves here are done between five and nine in the morning. The upper floors above shops are reached by steep staircases, often with turns, so long sofas and double beds are taken apart. Parking permissions around Koti and Abids are strict; we ask the shop or building owner to speak to the traffic constable if we need a longer halt. Typical destinations are Himayatnagar, Nampally, Malakpet and the Secunderabad side.
