Homes in Katraj and how we move them
A mix of older houses and newer societies, many on narrow inner roads.
Truck access, parking and timing
The Katraj chowk and the ghat road are very busy at peak hours. Early loading is best.

Katraj: the southern gateway to Pune
Katraj lies at the southern end of the city, at the foot of the Katraj ghat, where the Pune–Bengaluru highway climbs towards Satara and Kolhapur. Landmarks include the Katraj Dairy, the Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park and snake park, and the Bharati Vidyapeeth institutions. The Katraj Chowk is one of the busiest junctions in the city, with buses, trucks and local traffic converging on it.
That junction is the first thing we manage. A truck coming from the city side has to pass it, and at peak hours the delay can exceed thirty minutes. We tend to schedule moves out of Katraj for the early morning, so the vehicle crosses before the rush, and moves into Katraj for late morning.
Housing is varied: old settlements near the dairy and the market, apartment blocks along the Katraj–Kondhwa Road and the Ambegaon side, and newer societies on the ghat road. Older areas have narrow lanes, with limited truck access, while the newer societies have standard rules and service lifts. Residents include students from the nearby colleges, workers from industrial areas, and families with long roots in the area. Typical moves are to Bibwewadi, Kondhwa, Narhe and Ambegaon, and customers going to Satara, Kolhapur, Belagavi or Bengaluru find Katraj a convenient place to start, as the highway is right here. For the ghat section, our drivers take extra care with loaded vehicles, especially during the monsoon.
Practical planning for Katraj
Katraj is the southern gateway of Pune, with the Katraj Ghat, the Katraj Dairy, the Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park and the Katraj–Kondhwa road. The ghat stretch has slopes and sharp turns, and heavy trucks must be careful. Traffic at the Katraj chowk is dense. Residential societies and colonies spread around, with many lanes. Typical destinations are Ambegaon, Kondhwa, Bibwewadi and Sinhagad Road. We plan departure outside peak hours and use trucks suited to the slopes.
