Pimpri: industrial town with a big market and old colonies
Pimpri is the older half of the twin city Pimpri-Chinchwad, and it has the character of an industrial town: factories of the automobile sector, the Hindustan Antibiotics plant, a large cloth and electronics market, and neighbourhoods built for workers over the decades. The Pimpri Chowk, the Pimpri Camp area and the flyover on the old Pune–Mumbai highway are its best-known reference points.
Pimpri Camp, with its large Sindhi community and its busy market lanes, is one of the densest areas, and the lanes behind the main road are barely wide enough for a tempo. Shopkeepers often live above their shops, and a move may involve both home goods and stock. We handle these as two jobs with separate lists, and start before the market opens, usually around six or seven in the morning.
Industrial shifts also shape traffic. When shifts change at the large factories, the roads fill with workers’ vehicles, so we avoid those periods. Many families here live in company or society housing built for employees, and moves are linked to job changes or retirement. The older colonies are generally low-rise with stairs only, and we plan extra people for the upper floors. Typical moves are to Chinchwad, Akurdi, Pimple Saudagar and Kasarwadi. For intercity trips, the old Mumbai–Pune highway is just next to the market, and the expressway entrance at Kiwale is easily reached, which suits moves to Mumbai and Nashik.
Practical planning for Pimpri
Pimpri is the commercial core of Pimpri-Chinchwad, known for its Pimpri market, Pimpri Chowk and Pimpri Camp, with heavy traffic and a dense population. Streets in the market are narrow, and parking is almost impossible. We start early, use small vehicles and carry goods. Residents include shopkeepers, workers and families. Typical destinations include Chinchwad, Akurdi, Kasarwadi and Sangvi. We offer compact packages for small households and larger ones for families, with a clear price before the move.
