Homes in Anna Nagar and how we move them
Many homes are independent houses and floors with stairs, and newer apartments with lifts and association rules.
Truck access, parking and timing
Roads are wider than in most older areas, so trucks can usually get close. Parking can still be tight.
What the price depends on
Floors, lifts and the amount of furniture decide the price.

Anna Nagar: a planned colony with a few quirks
Anna Nagar is one of Chennai’s early planned neighbourhoods, laid out on wide roads and organised by numbered avenues and lettered blocks. Compared with older parts of the city, the streets are far easier for a medium or large truck, and many houses are independent, two- or three-storey homes with a driveway or a gate wide enough for the crew to bring a trolley right up to the door.
The quirks are different. Weekday mornings around the Anna Nagar Tower and the schools are busy, the roundabouts can back up, and some of the blocks have a lot of cars parked on both sides of the road. Our drivers check the street and approach from the wider road. If your house is on a smaller internal road, the truck may wait on the avenue.
Many homes here have built-in wardrobes, modular kitchens and old-style furniture that has been in the family for decades, and a good part of our time goes into wrapping and dismantling carefully. Typical moves are to Mogappair, Kilpauk, Ambattur and Nungambakkam, and, going further out, to Porur or the OMR belt. For intercity moves, Anna Nagar is conveniently placed for the western and northern exits.
Practical planning for Anna Nagar
Anna Nagar is laid out in numbered avenues and blocks, with the Anna Nagar Tower Park at its heart. Roads are wide enough for trucks, and houses are often two or three floors with generous staircases, so loading is easier than in older Chennai. The main constraint is parking restrictions on some avenues during market hours and the number of parked cars on residential streets. We ask for the block, avenue and house number, and confirm compound gate width where a 17-foot truck must enter.
