1. Distance
A move inside the city is priced very differently from a move of 500 or 1,500 km. Longer routes mean more fuel, toll, driver time and a bigger risk of delay. See the route pages for road distance and usual transit time.
2. How much you are moving
The volume of your goods decides the vehicle size and the crew. A 1 BHK with little furniture and a 3 BHK with a sofa set, wardrobes, a fridge and a washing machine are very different loads, even if both have the same room count. A survey is the only reliable way to size it.
3. Floors, lifts and access
A third-floor flat without a lift, a long carry from the gate to the truck, or a narrow lane that stops a large truck all add labour. The more we know about both buildings, the fewer surprises on the day.
4. Packing material and service level
Good packing uses bubble wrap, foam, cartons, wardrobe boxes and stretch film for each item. A quote that includes full packing costs more than one that only loads your own cartons. Check what is included and what is extra.
5. The date and the season
Month-end, weekends and the summer school-holiday months are busy, and prices can be higher. Moving on a weekday in the middle of the month is often easier to book.
6. Extra services
Dismantling and fitting furniture, AC removal and installation, car or bike transport, storage and transit insurance are usually quoted separately. Decide which you need before you compare quotes.
How to read a quote
- The total, GST and any advance, written clearly.
- What is included: packing material, labour, loading, transport, unloading, unpacking.
- What is extra, and at what rate.
- The delivery date or range, and what happens if the load is bigger than the survey.
For approximate ranges, see the charges table on your city page, for example packers and movers in Delhi or Bengaluru.
