Lanes of the old city
Many homes in the old city sit in lanes too narrow for any truck. Here, the crew comes on foot, wraps the bike where it is parked and walks it out to the main road, where the truck is waiting. The route is checked during the survey, so the crew knows the turns and steps on the way.
Students and new jobs
Students finishing at the university and the colleges, and people moving for jobs in Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Pune, are among those who send bikes from Varanasi. We pick up from hostels where the truck is allowed near the gate, or the crew walks the bike to it.
Heat, rain and festivals
Summers are very hot, so pickups are early. In the rains, the bike gets an extra layer of film. During big festivals, the roads near the ghats are crowded, so we fix the pickup on another day if we can.
At delivery
The crew calls before arriving, unwraps the bike in front of you and refits the mirrors. You check it against the list and your photos, then sign. If your new home is also in a narrow lane, the crew walks the bike in, just as at pickup.
